Nice to meet you!
I’m Emma Imholz. I’m a non-binary artist based in Brooklyn, NY. After growing in up in a town I affectionatley refer to as Middle of Nowhere, SC, I moved to New York at the ripe age of 17 to go school for Musical Theatre. I graduated in February of 2020, and the world ended in March.
Since then, I’ve gone on quite a journey. I’ve fallen in love, fallen out of love, found out just who the hell I think I am, and accumulated a whole bunch of opinions along the way. My willingness to share my thoughts has sometimes gotten me into trouble, but I’m finally biting the bullet and creating a place to put it all.
We’ll cover a lot! People, Places, Things and everything in between. Posts will occur anywhere from once a month to weekly. As I go, I’m sure I’ll develop a more rigid schedule, but for now we’ll see where it goes. I’ll be including an audio companion to every post that it makes sense to do that for(sometimes the words hit different when they’re in my own voice), and hopefully make you snicker throughout.
I’ve always told myself that I’m not a “real writer”. This substack is my way of proving myself wrong. At the end of the day, there is no such thing as a “real writer” because then there would have to be a such thing as a “fake writer”. I am a writer. Generally speaking.
